Five Before Chaos

Unfortunately, even with the Sky Fairy gracing us with the death of Overlord Falwell, the ignorant zombies of irrationality and intolerance continue their mind-feast unabated. (yak!) How’s that for a pompous intro? Now to the story.

You probably know that Mary Cheney, daughter of Darth Cheney, has recently given birth to a baby boy. You probably also know that *gasp!* that Ms. Cheney is in a committed relationship with another woman (and no, I’m not digressing into the whole idiocy of her working for a party whose certain factions would lynch her if they could). Yep, a lesbian. Anyways, it seems like some heads are exploding in the far right hate-group, The Concerned Women for America, who were the topic of last month’s CFIWU!

See, the rapture-ready’s panties are all in a wad because there was a picture on Cheney’s White House page showing him and his wife (you know, the lesbian-erotica-in-the-old-west author) holding their new grandson. More specifically the caption is what raised the ire:

… His parents are the Cheney’s daughter Mary, and her partner, Heather Poe.

Ever read something this nutty? From the CWA’s press release on the matter (warning - it will make your head hurt):

Heather Poe is Mary Cheney’s live-in lesbian lover. She may act like a parent, she may treat the baby as a parent, she may love this baby with all of her heart, but in this reality we all live in, Heather Poe is NOT the baby’s real parent. She has NO biological connection to the child whatsoever. Some man, the baby’s real Daddy, is the child’s other REAL parent.

If the Vice President and his wife Lynne are joining their daughter Mary in playing this homosexual game of “house,” then all have chosen their roles and designated lesbian lover Heather Poe as the “Daddy.”

Everyone knows there can only be one REAL biological Mommy. We are all grown adults. Playing “house” is a game for children, not for The White House or the Vice President and his wife.

Seriously, did an eight-year old write that? So apparently, adopted parents aren’t REAL parents either, by this illogic. I know several adopted children that would disagree.

I’ve mentioned before that the GOP is held cpative by their “base”, expemplified by the morons who believe the above kind of drivel. And of courese, during the GOP primary, you see a lot of panering to these people, which is why Giuliani’s pro-choice stance is significant. What if the top tier blows these people off? They have nowhere else to go, short of a third party. Now, of course, there’s a whole lot of other baggage that comes with being a Republican (support of plutocracy, corporatist fetishism, incessant warmongering), but seriously, couldn’t they make a little more of an inroad witht the genral public if they cut these people loose? They are batshit insane, and NEED to be marginalized.

And that’s what I’ve been saying all along… the time is long past, whether it be McCain saying how “we need to fight them there so we don’t fight them here” or the above homophobic tripe, these people need to be laughed at and publicly ridiculed, in a severe way. The time for treating idiotic behavior with civility is long past.
