Debate #2
…was a snoozefest, so much that I turned it off after 45 minutes. At this point, there’s no surprises, from either side. No mention of “poverty” or “poor people’ in this one, either. Go figure.

You missed the switchblade fight. Obama won.
Overall McCain seemed to bounce between ‘goofy’ and shrill (me, me, I did this, blah, blah, me). This is not the guy we want controlling nuclear weapons–also considering the history of fuck-ups he, his daddy and his granddaddy have on their military records. (Wet-Start: How Sen. McCain caused the conflagration on the USS Forrestal in 1967. Now he’s doing another ‘wet-start’ with Palin)

Looks like the race is run.
Neither Obama nor McCain was great, but Obama was the better man and McCain needed a clear win, so it was nearly a K.O. for O.
I guess Palin will prove to be McC’s fatal mistake. He most probably chose her ultra-conservative, paleo-christian ideas as well as for her youth: the complaints were that he was too old and not conservative enough, and it seemed to work. But Palin ‘peaked’ to early, and when the hype was over, it soon became clear she had very little to add.
In a way she tied his hands: many people had the idea (true or false) that McC was the more experienced and reliable of the two (in foreign affairs etc;), but with Sarah as running mate, experience and reliability were the last things he wanted to concentrate on.
The republicans need a miracle or a disaster to win the selections.
